According to the sources, these schemes were approved during the 16th PDWP meeting of the ongoing fiscal year 2022-23 under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Planning & Development Board Abdullah Khan Sumbal. 

The approved development schemes included 

• Rehabilitation of Metalled Road from Feroza to Head Farid Road District Rahimyar Khan costing Rs. 479.177 million 

• Construction of Multi Level Grade Separation at Shahdara Morr, Lahore costing Rs. 9,056.020 million, 
• Project Management Unit (PMU): Heritage & Urban Regeneration in Lahore: Tourism Development in Lahore Fort and its Buffer Zone costing Rs. 317.000 million 
• Construction of Divisional Complex at Gujrat Phase-I costing Rs. 8,805.868 million 
• Dualization of Road from Shadiwal to Chak Gillan District Gujrat (Revised) worth Rs. 2,138.631 million 
• Building Flyover on Gujrat Bypass (N-5) to Link Industrial Area-II I/C Link Rawalpindi Side & Additional Bridges over Bhimber Nullah and UJC in District Gujrat costing Rs. 2,473.140 million, 

• Rehabilitatithe on of road from Service Morr to Bolay Bridge District Gujrat at the cost of Rs. 886.180 million, 
• Improvement/ Rehabilitation of Gujrat City Roads District Gujrat at costing Rs. 1,190.342 million, 
• Dualization of Gujrat Dinga Road Length = 17.50 Km District Gujrat at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,812.174 million, 
• Dualization of Gujrat Jlalpur Jattan Head Marala Road Length = 6.00 Km District Gujrat having a cost of Rs. 911.529 million, 
• Rehabilitation of Road from Renala Khud to Hujra Chowk through Shergarh Tehsil Renala Khurd Depalpur District Okara costing Rs. 1016.887 million, 

• Rehabilitation of Old G.T Road in Okara City Tehsil Okara costing Rs. 1040.762 million, 
• Rehabilitation of Depalpur – Haveli Lakha Road via Bhuman Shah & Wasawawala Tehsil Depalpur, District Okara costing Rs. 1047.190 million 
• Rehabilitation of Depalpur – Basirpur RoadTehsil Depalpur District Okara at an estimated cost of Rs. 1054.850 million

CM was chairing a meeting to review current health sector projects, during which he ordered a full assessment of the solarisation of the hospitals and approved funds for the construction of the dental hospital in Jubilee Town. 

 During the meeting, he issued directives to complete the Institute of Child Health under a public-private partnership and ordered that the mother and child block of Ganga Ram Hospital should be completed this month. 

Moreover, he stated that the upgradation of DHQ hospitals in Gujranwala and Sahiwal should be completed soon. The meeting was told that DHQ hospital in Gujranwala was being established as a 500-bed teaching hospital whereas DHQ hospital Sahiwal would be designed as a 773-bed teaching hospital to provide the top healthcare facilities to the patients. 

The CM further directed that the installation of 30 dialysis machines and other equipment in the 250-bed Institute of Urology and Transplantation Rawalpindi should be completed as soon as possible while the outdoor and emergency block of Fateh Muhammad Buzdar Institute of Cardiology DG Khan be made functional shortly. Besides, he also approved funds for the installation of a pet scan and cyclotron machine in Nishtar Hospital Multan. The 256-bed trauma centre and emergency of Jinnah Hospital would soon be operational. 

In addition, Pervez Elahi also approved the funds for installing the modern machine in the oncology ward of Jinnah Hospital. It was informed at the meeting that a 200-bed emergency ward will be completed in General Hospital Arfa Karim Tower in the first phase. 

Provincial Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Dr Yasmin Rashid, former principal secretary GM Sikander, Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal, finance secretary and health department officials were present during the meeting.

As per the details, eight different roads would be widened by the government. A 134 km road would be upgraded in Hafizabad district, at an estimated cost of Rs43 billion in total. 

Hafizabad-Gujrat road having a length of 98 km would also be upgraded, which would cost approximately Rs8.2 billion. In addition, a 36 km road in Pindi Bhattian would also be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs910 million. 

In August, the Punjab Government announced upgrading the Gujrat district to a division, taking the total number of divisions in the province to 10. 

Details revealed that Gujrat was elevated to the division when Governor Punjab Baleegh-ur-Rehman gave the final approval. Gujrat city has been made the division headquarters of the newly formed division. 

The notification further stated that the division would include three districts, Gujrat, Hafiz Abad, and Mandi Bahauddin. 

It is to be noted that Punjab CM Perwaiz Illahi belongs to Gujrat and he has been elected MPA from the same area. PML-Q has been appealing to elevate Gujrat to a division in the past as well. 

In a similar development, Provincial Minister of Communications and Works Chaudhry Ali Afzal Sahi directed the local administration to accelerate the construction of roads to provide relief to the general public.  

Addressing the meeting, the minister stated that those contractors who would show sluggishness in the completion of construction work would be blacklisted besides seizing their security amount.  

He issued directives to the Metropolitan Corporation to give a timeline to start work on the much-delayed projects so that these could be completed on a priority basis.  

Meanwhile, Provincial Minister of Mines and Minerals Chaudhry Latif Nazar emphasized the need for a close link among members of the assembly so that development projects could be completed within a stipulated period.
